No No. Dogs stay off the trails.
Dogs stay on roads, pullouts and campgrounds, with no trails and no lakeshores at all.
Where dogs can go
Going-to-the-Sun Road pullouts, St. Mary and Apgar campgrounds, parking and picnic areas, on a 6-ft leash.
What we do instead
Cut in the Sep 27 re-route: the west leg now crosses Montana after Going-to-the-Sun closes. Yellowstone's north side and the larch valleys took its place.
Watch out for
Grizzly country in feeding season. A loose dog is the classic trigger for a charge.
MT. On our route: Cut from the route. Rules change: check the park's own pet page before you go. Rhea is never boarded or kenneled; where she can't go, we find somewhere she can.
